Announcement

1976 Foundation, Inc. successfully launched its Professional Counseling and Wellness Program for the students of Excelsior High School. The launch, held on Saturday May 20, 2023, over Zoom had over 40 participants.

Our central theme is “Promoting the self-image of humans as created in the image of God.” Our message is "sponsoring wellness for students through the use of professional counselors, mentors and other resources, since elevating the youth assures a better future for all generations."

At the launch we elaborated on the reason the program was established and what makes it different from others. We shared progress reports, along with a call to action, all with an end to presenting mental health and hygiene in a positive light.

In addition to the Excelsior attendees, we had full participation of Family Life Ministries, our current donors, XLCR 1976 Graduating Class, other XLCR alumni chapters and various VIPs. The event was enjoyable, with musical performances from Jon and Jovani Williams, Harold Davis, as well as comedy from Julie Mango and poetry from Amina Blackwood Meeks.

Why We Exist

We are, proud graduates of Excelsior High School, Jamaica, West Indies Class of 1976. Excelsior is fondly known as XCLR or “Age” (pronounced AGGI), a shortened form of the Latin exhortation “Age Animo,” which means Do it with thy might.

We owe our success in no small part to the excellent foundation we received at XCLR. As a way of showing our gratitude and honoring our alma mater, we are determined to “pay it forward” by helping students via targeted programs designed to enhance their academic, spiritual and social wellbeing.
